How You Can Help Me…

Hi all!

Thanks for participating in my first book giveaway; I hope it will be one of many to come. I was stunned by the number of entries, (over 600!). Congratulations to the recipients; sorry I didn’t have more to give away at the time!

You can help me a little, and if you’re interested, read on! =) I’m ramping up for the release of book five – working on the last two covers, editing, researching marketing options… and here is where you can help! For the first time, I’ve purchased advertising for the series, (*gulp!*), and apparently the number of reviews a book has influences people’s decisions whether to buy or not. So… if you haven’t already reviewed my book, (particularly on Amazon), please, PLEASE take a moment to do so! If you purchased it through other channels, consider reviewing it there, or popping over to Amazon – you only need an account to review the book.

I’m including the links for Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Goodreads – thanks in advance for your assistance!

Warm regards,

Holly

Goodreads Giveaway!

I’m giving away four hardcover copies of my first book, “An Accidental Affair” through Goodreads, in anticipation of the release of the final book!

Pending Goodreads approval, the giveaway will run for a week, starting to-morrow; there is a widget in the right sidebar that will take you to the contest when it is approved. =) I will be inscribing each book with a personal message, so if you are interested, head over there and take a look at the giveaway!

Warm wishes,

Holly

First Draft – Done!

Thank you patient and lovely ladies! I put my mom’s house on the market this week and just seconds ago – immediately before I navigated to this page to create this post – finished the first draft of “Step in to the Light”.

It’s long, at 108,748 words, and it will shrink or grow slightly depending on the edit. But it is done and aside from my cats, you are the first to know. =)

I will edit it, and finish the cover as soon as possible. The wait it almost over!

Thank you SO much for your patience and understanding!

Love,

Holly

Janurary Update!

Thanks to the wonderful readers who are so understanding and patient – I’m writing now, and making good progress! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year, and that 2015 is filled with joy and love for everyone.

On a positive note, Books and Beyond Fifty Shades, a Romance review group on Facebook, reviewed book 1 of The Liliana Batchelor Series and gave it 4.5 stars! I really appreciate them taking the time to read and review it – you can see the post here (must be a Facebook member to see it): Books and Beyond Review

If you have a favourite blogsite or Facebook group that you think might be open to reviewing my book, ask them if they are accepting suggestions, or let me know. =)

I will post on my site once I have the first draft completed, and hope it’s soon! Below is a tease from Chapter One – it is not edited, so apologies for any typos, and the final manuscript may alter slightly. All right reserved – please so not duplicate or copy without my express permission. Thank you!

Chapter 1

The plane has reached cruising altitude and Lily can hardly keep her voice calm.

“Step Into the Light” update and ‘Beatings’ by Stuart

Thanks to Michelle and Dina who always pop in to say ‘hi’ and ask me about where book five is. =)

It’s taken me a more time to write because it is a longer book, it winds up a bunch of story arcs and so I am doing my best to maintain consistency and make sure there is nothing in previous books that contradicts what is going on, and several things have popped up that have occupied my time. With the holidays rapidly approaching and commitments I have through the rest of the year, I guarantee it will be done before Christmas, but it’s hard to say exactly when. I’m a one person shop, so Twitter, email, spam, writing, redesign of books, etc is all through me… in addition to all the other things that make life possible. =) It’s been an, (unfortunately), busier few months than I anticipated, and I’ve rewritten a few scenes already that I wasn’t happy with – I don’t want this book to seem like a quick and sloppy job; my readers – and Lily and Stuart – deserve more than that.

Lisa has posted here and on Amazon expressing concern about Stuart’s behaviour and the intensity of their scenes.

If you go to Fetlife or any of the other kink-oriented sites you will see things far worse than anything Stuart has done to Lily. There (can be) pain in kink, the BDSM lifestyle, but the range of it is something else entirely. Stuart has left marks on Liliana that last a short time – a few days at most. I just went to a birthday party for a kinkster and one of my friends there was lamenting that her marks are finally going away after a week. I worked with a woman – cute, charming, smart and quirky – who loves take-down scenes, where she is thrown into a piece of chain link fence mounted on the wall in one of the local play places. She got a kick going into work knowing that the huge, angry bruises would horrify most people she worked with, but they were covered up by a skirt, sometimes barely.

Perhaps it is a failure in my writing and expression, but Lily is ABSOLUTELY not being abused by Stuart. An intense scene can be very cathartic, and bring you closer to the person you are doing it with. It is trust, a bonding experience, and freeing, as odd as it sounds. It brings you into the present moment in a way few other things ever can, and done properly is an amazing experience. Use of the term ‘beating’ is not uncommon vernacular, as in, ‘he beat me with a flogger’, not to be confused with someone non-consensually beating a person up.

With regard to Lisa’s mention about Stuart leaving marks… he had an inkling they might swim – Elissa mentioned bathing suits – which was why Stuart was careful in his aim, and he did not know Lily would need to go shopping

Update!

I am back from a short holiday in Vegas, and had a lovely time! I was so pleased I got to meet superfan Tanja, and spend time with her. =)

Went to several clubs and met some terrific people; stood in a pool at Drai’s and listened to some great dance music, and had a few nice suppers too! It’s been a difficult year as many of you know, and I appreciated the opportunity to decompress for a spell. I’d been planning this trip for some time, looking forward to it, and it did not disappoint!

Just before I left I did two things. First off, I re-released “An Accidental Affair” with a new cover:

I have been working on covers for all the books, and this is the one I struggled with the most. So much happens,

Sneak Peek of Book 5 on Pinterest!

As a tease whilst I complete book five, I’ve created a Pinterest page where I will periodically post items related to “Step Into the Light”. There are already a few things up there, and other boards of mine have items related to Lily and Stuart, Scotland or other interests.

I will soon be re-issuing the books with new covers. The covers will have a uniform layout to make them easy to identify (the way “The Void Chronicles” books have a similar layout), and have better photos and a more professional design. I hope to have the last two covers done soon, and then will do some minor edits and re-release the books! You should be able to get the new covers by deleting the book from your device and then going and re-downloading it. I will post them here as well so you can decide whether you want to keep the old or new covers.

Below is the flyer that was distributed earlier this year at Norwescon for my two other series: “The Void Chronicles” and “Sine Qua Non Cycle”.

Things in Work!

I’m over 40,000 words into “Step into the Light”, and am looking at new cover possibilities for books 2 & 3 in the series, which I’ve never been happy with. I also recorded my first vblog and am going to show it to some friends and get feedback on it before posting it to YouTube; when I do, I’ll be sure to post a link here. =) I also now have a Pinterest page, although there isn’t a GREAT deal on it now, and it’s not entirely annotated. Bear with me as I juggle social media and writing. 😎

Nothing much exciting going on other than day to day items, yoga, too much heat (no air conditioning. Aieee! =P), and writing. I love writing, good God, I really do; I’m lucky to have a little time off between contracts and also be in a position where I can take care of personal business and also work on my books for a little while. Had a few difficult scenes to write, which always takes a lot of emotional energy, but now I’m into some more ‘exciting’ and interesting bits, and the pace has picked up a bit. 😉

Hope things are going well for everyone, and thank you for stopping by my site. If you’ve read my books and came by out of curiosity, please, PLEASE consider rating my books, if you haven’t already, and post here! Say hi! I don’t bite! 😉 If you’ve returned, I hope you’re as excited about my progress on book five as I am.

Fond regards,

Holly =)
